The Old Russian Male Funerary Attire (Based on Finds from the 10th–11th Century Burial Mounds at Gochevo, Central Russia)

Medieval (late 10th – early 12th centuries) Russian artifacts from Gochevo, Psel River (modern Kursk Province), excavated in the early 20th century, are described. Basic elements of male clothing and the social status of the buried persons are reconstructed. Relationships between the funerary and actual costumes of adolescents, middle-aged and old men are discussed. Burial areas relevant for reconstructing the funerary clothing are identifi ed. The statistics of fi nds and graphic reconstructions are included with the article.
