Morphology and Decoration of Ceramics from Novoilyinka III—A Chalcolithic Settlement in Northern Kulunda, Southwestern Siberia

The designs on pottery from Novoilyinka III in northern Kulunda, dating to the 3rd millennium BC, fall into the categories of retreating-pricked-and-pit, comb-and-pit, and pit. They are paralleled by designs on vessels of the comband-pit, pit-and-comb, and retreating-pricked-and-pit cultures spanning the area from the forest zone of Eastern Europe (Baltic) to the Upper Ob area. The closest similarities are with the Bairyk pottery of Baraba and the Kiprino pottery of the Upper Ob.
